"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Our programs have all been designed and developed in collaboration with DGYG traveler volunteers.
The programs cover diverse topics that look to:
1. Build upon local capacity and agency
2. Improve the health and well fare
3. Empower and strengthen local leaders, heads of households, small business owners and community-based organizations
4. Inspire and encourage youth to continue to educate themselves to provide them opportunities for a better future.
The DGYG Photography Program is an open source, collaborative initiative to bring the art & commercial skill of photography to youth and young adults in underserved communities. Photography as an art form allows for the participant to discover new things both about themselves and their surroundings. Allowing them to open up to new perspectives about their community and share that with the world. Photography is also a powerful tool and a worthy skill for anyone to have. Understanding the technical side to this medium, as well as the connection to digital platform and social media, the participants learn how to use the camera as an agent for change and so understand how it can even act as a tool for generating income.
Personal Development, Professional Skills, Potential for economic growth, Planning for life, family and business
Why is P4 important?
This curriculum is focused on working with local youth and adults in the community to discover their individual potential and to develop their leadership, communication and professional skills and confidence. The workshops are designed to teach basic financial management, life goals and planning, strengthen communication and advocacy skills, cultivatee leaders and entrepreneurs. We believe that the skills sets taught through this set of workshops are invaluable to youth and adults as they are given a new perspective on themselves and of the possibilities for their future.

What is the Nutrition and Healthy Eating program about?
This program involves a series of workshops around healthy cooking, food as medicine, understanding the effects of sugar, soda and saturated fats. All workshops are tailored to the locations offerings and take into account the culture around food. The other aspect of the program looks to provide the local organization "seed" money to provide on-going healthy snacks or food-based community gatherings throughout the months following the workshops, all to reinforce the learning as well as to provide good food options to those in need.
